Synopsis

Young King Kelson Haldane possesses both royal authority and the magical heritage of the Deryni, but neither guarantees him a secure throne. Gwynedd is being pulled toward civil and religious war as ex-Archbishop Loris conspires with the Pretender Queen Caitrin to challenge Kelson’s rule and seize control of Meara.

Kelson must lead his forces against open rebellion while enemies closer to home plot assassination and treachery. Political intrigue, religious conflict, magic and medieval warfare collide as the young king struggles to defend both his kingdom and the persecuted Deryni people.

EugeneBookStore Summary

A strong vintage fantasy title from Katherine Kurtz’s long-running Deryni universe. The King’s Justice combines medieval politics, warfare, religion and hereditary magic in a richly developed alternate-history setting.

As Volume II of The Histories of King Kelson, this is particularly useful for series building and pairs naturally with The Bishop’s Heir and The Quest for Saint Camber.
