A well-read copy in Good condition, with substantial cosmetic wear. The front has edge and corner rubbing, surface scuffing, creasing, and noticeable wear along the spine side and lower edge. The lower-right corner has a prominent diagonal crease. The back shows heavier wear. There is a large torn/peeled label area across the lower-right portion, another peeled area along the lower-left corner, a used-bookstore price sticker, edge rubbing, creasing, and general handling wear. The ISBN/barcode area remains largely readable.
Because the damage is concentrated on the covers rather than indicating a missing cover, I would keep it at Good, but at the low end of that grade. |

Fat Charlie Nancy has spent much of his life embarrassed by his larger-than-life father. When his father unexpectedly dies during a karaoke performance in Florida, Charlie discovers something considerably more unsettling than an embarrassing parent: his father was actually Anansi, the legendary trickster and spider god.
Then Charlie learns that he has a brother.
Spider possesses much of the supernatural charm and confidence Charlie lacks, and his sudden arrival turns Charlie’s carefully ordinary existence upside down. What begins as an uncomfortable family reunion quickly expands into a wildly imaginative confrontation involving gods, ancient stories, dangerous enemies and the complicated inheritance left behind by their father.
Gaiman combines mythology, comedy and contemporary fantasy in a story about two very different brothers discovering what they inherited—and deciding what kind of men they want to become.
Anansi Boys is a particularly strong used-fantasy title because it works both for Neil Gaiman readers and customers looking for mythological or contemporary fantasy.
The book reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and won several major fantasy awards. While this particular copy has considerable exterior wear, it remains a desirable reading copy of one of Gaiman’s best-known novels.
This is the 2006 HarperTorch mass-market paperback, ISBN 9780060515195.
The supplied copy carries a printed price of $7.99 U.S. / $10.99 Canada.
Although frequently marketed as connected with American Gods, Anansi Boys is better described as a companion novel rather than simply “American Gods #2.” Mr. Nancy appears in both books, but Anansi Boys centers on his sons and tells its own story.
This book has unusually strong book-specific award credentials. Anansi Boys won the 2006 Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel, Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Adult Literature, British Fantasy/August Derleth Award, and was a 2006 Alex Award selection.
