Synopsis

Teenage spy Alex Rider desperately wants to leave the dangerous world of espionage behind, but the terrorist organization Scorpia has other plans.

Scorpia has haunted Alex for years. The organization was involved in his parents’ deaths, once tried to manipulate him into betraying MI6, and has repeatedly survived attempts to destroy it. Now Scorpia is preparing an ambitious operation centered on the politically explosive Middle East—and Alex is once again caught in its plans.

When MI6 sends Alex on what is supposed to be a relatively simple assignment, he soon discovers that Scorpia has anticipated his every move. The organization knows his strengths, his weaknesses, and exactly how to use the people around him against him. Alex must rely on everything he has learned as a reluctant teenage spy to survive a mission that becomes intensely personal.

EugeneBookStore Summary

Scorpia Rising is an exciting international spy thriller filled with secret operations, deception, dangerous enemies, and the fast-moving action that defines the Alex Rider series.

This installment is particularly important because it brings Alex back into direct conflict with Scorpia, the organization responsible for some of the most painful events in his life. Anthony Horowitz raises the stakes considerably, making the mission feel more personal and dangerous than a routine spy adventure.

It’s an excellent choice for younger readers who enjoy James Bond-style espionage, secret agents, international conspiracies, gadgets, narrow escapes, and cinematic action, while adult thriller readers may also enjoy the remarkably fast pace.

Collector Notes

This Puffin edition is Book #9 of the Alex Rider series and carries ISBN 9780142419854. It is a later paperback reading edition rather than a scarce first edition, but Alex Rider remains a highly recognizable young-adult espionage series, making individual volumes useful for customers completing a set. The striking metallic/holographic Scorpia emblem also makes this edition visually distinctive. For the EugeneBookStore, its primary value is as an affordable series copy rather than a collectible edition.
