This is a comparatively attractive Good copy. The front remains bright and glossy with strong color. There is moderate edge and corner rubbing, light surface scuffing, some spine-edge wear, and a noticeable crease/wear area at the upper-right corner. The bottom edge has light rubbing. The back is also presentable, with moderate edge/corner wear, surface scuffs and rubbing, particularly along the lower edge and lower-right area. The barcode and ISBN are clean and completely readable.
Overall, this is noticeably cleaner than many heavily read MMPBs and should display well in the store. |

Acorna—the young Linyaari once known as the “unicorn girl”—has finally come to terms with her unusual heritage and joins the salvage ship Condor in search of freedom among the stars.
That freedom abruptly ends when Acorna and her companions answer a distress signal from a strange world populated by remarkable sentient plants. Evidence there points toward something far more dangerous: the Khleevi, the ruthless insectoid enemies who once tortured Aari and now appear poised to attack Acorna’s people.
With the survival of both Linyaari and humans threatened, Acorna, Aari, salvager Becker and the formidable ship’s cat Roadkill must discover a weakness in an enemy bent on extermination.
The novel expands Acorna’s personal story into a larger interstellar conflict while retaining the unusual combination of adventure, humor, alien cultures and optimistic science fiction that distinguishes the series.
This is a good EugeneBookStore series-building book.
Anne McCaffrey remains a recognizable name, and the Acorna novels have a distinctive appeal beyond her Dragonriders of Pern readership. The attractive cover, unicorn-girl concept and accessible space-adventure story also make this easier to hand-sell than many middle-volume science-fiction paperbacks.
Its strongest store value, however, comes from building the Acorna sequence around it.
This copy is ISBN 9780061059841 / 0061059846, published by HarperTorch in 2001. Better World Books catalogs this ISBN as a 1st Printing, but I would still verify the copyright-page number line before advertising this particular physical copy as a confirmed first printing.
